Jonathan Rochester (better known as JR), the 2011–2012 vice president of advocacy, is a senior at East Carolina University. At ECU Rochester is pursuing a double degree in public relations and interpersonal organizational communication, Spanish, and a minor in international relations. He will graduate in spring 2012.

Prior to attending ECU, Rochester served in the United States Army for 10 years, 5 months and 16 days. His stint in the Army included two tours to Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

As a sophomore, Rochester was the Treasurer for the ECU PRSSA Chapter and served as  Vice President during his junior year. In conjunction to serving as the vice president of ECU PRSSA, he held executive positions in the school’s College Republicans (Public Relations Chair), Tau Kappa Epsilon (Grammateus – secretary), Relay for Life (Greek Life Liaison) and Toastmasters (President).

During this summer, Rochester is interning for a local non-profit organization, Uptown Greenville. They host craft markets, fairs, and local events benefiting the Pitt County area of North Carolina. Rochester has a passion for culture and travel. After graduation, he seeks to work in international public relations.

In his spare time, Rochester enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, any outdoor activity, playing the drums and singing.
