Geri Ann Evans, APR

Geri Evans, MA, APR, is an experienced public relations professional, public speaker, presentation coach, writer, consultant, educator and business owner. As the president of Evans PR Group, Evans has counseled clients extensively in the areas of message development, media training, presentation skills, persuasion and collaboration. She was responsible for the statewide expansion of “Florida on the Move,” developed and led a statewide summit on obesity, revived and directed a statewide symposium on Medicaid reform, and helped develop a unified medical liability reform campaign. Prior to opening her own firm in 2003, Evans was vice president of public relations for the Florida Hospital Association, where she was responsible for external communications, media relations and member relations, and was highly involved in state and federal advocacy issues. Two white papers she authored are entered into the Congressional Record. Simultaneously, she served as the executive director of two professional membership groups — the Florida Society of Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing and the Florida Hospital Society of Safety and Security Professionals. 

Before joining FHA, Evans served as the director of public relations for a boutique hotel chain (the company’s first public relations professional) in Orlando, Fla., taught communications on a full-time or part-time basis for 26 years, was a special features and sports editor for three years, and developed and taught an award-winning reading program for at-risk youth. A popular public speaker, Evans offers workshops and seminars on a variety of professional development topics and serves as a communications coach and mentor. She has been published in The Spectrum and the New England Society for Healthcare Communications publication.

Evans is highly active on several local, state and national boards and committees, and has served as president of many area professional and nonprofit organizations, including PRSA, the Orlando Breakfast Rotary Club, PEO and a local pre-school council. She is a tireless volunteer and has been honored by several organizations for her contributions to the welfare of the community, especially to children in impoverished areas. 

A Central Florida Packer Backer, this Wisconsin native loves to watch football and baseball, but would rather play tennis and golf. Her passion is literacy and some of her more unusual titles include amateur radio operator and cake decorator. Evans is married, has two grown sons and two delightful grandchildren. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English and speech and a Master of Arts in communications.
