Amy Bishop, 2011–2012 FORUM editor in chief, is a senior at Indiana University. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a focus in public relations. She is also working toward minors in business marketing, political science and economics.
Bishop has been a PRSSA member for three years. As a sophomore, she was communications director for Indiana University’s Bateman Case Study Competition team, researching, implementing and evaluating a campaign for the 2010 Census (which earned an Honorable Mention).
The following year, Bishop held the position of Vice President for the Beth Wood Chapter of PRSSA at Indiana University. During her junior year, Bishop led IU to host their first Regional Conference as Conference Coordinator. The Conference featured nationally renowned speakers, attracted more than 200 students and professionals from six states and was covered by the Associated Press.
In addition to her work with PRSSA, Bishop has held seven internships with various organizations, including Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Better Business Bureau, Indiana University Foundation and Hirons & Company public relations agency. During the summer of 2010, Bishop interned in London in national and regional public relations at Harvey Nichols luxury department stores. Bishop is passionate about non-profit communication and loves learning ways non-profit organizations can incorporate social media into traditional strategies.
When Bishop is not busy tweeting from @AmyL_Bishop, she enjoys reading, shopping, watching football and spending time with family.
