Joe Clarkson

Joe Clarkson, 2011–12 vice president of internships/job services, is a senior at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in communication arts with a concentration in public relations with a minor focus in marketing.

Clarkson joined PRSSA at the end of his freshman year. Since his sophomore year, Clarkson has been an active member of Ohio Northern’s nationally affiliated student-run firm Vision Communications. He served at the registration co-chair for the 2011 PaRtners Conference hosted by Ohio Northern. During his junior year, Clarkson served as the Chapter’s treasurer. Clarkson also participated in the Bateman Competition during his sophomore and junior years and received honorable mention distinction for both campaigns.

During the summer of 2009, Clarkson interned at Lake Raystown Resort: Lodge & Conference Center in the group sales department. The following summer, Clarkson interned at Lima Memorial Health System in the public relations/marketing department. During the summer of 2011, Clarkson will intern at Hunter Public Relations in New York City.

At Ohio Northern, Clarkson is a co-captain of the nationally ranked men’s volleyball team. He works for the ONU Sports Information Department and writes for the Northern Review. Clarkson also serves as an orientation leader and admissions’ tour guide. He is an honorary member of Phi Eta Sigma, Lambda Pi Eta, and Omicron Delta Kappa, and is the current vice president of the Aurora Chapter of Mortar Board. Clarkson was also named the 2010 Sophomore Male Recipient of the DeBow Freed Leadership Award.

In his free time, Clarkson enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming, skiing, running, photography and listening to music. He is a Facebook and YouTube fanatic and tweets @joeclarkson13.
