Lauren K. Gray, 2012-2013 National President, is a senior communication student with a concentration in public relations with minors in marketing and leadership at Western Carolina University.
Gray first joined PRSSA at Western Carolina University in August of 2009. She served as the Chapter historian for her first semester in PRSSA and served as Chapter president the following semester beginning January 2009. Gray helped to restart her Chapter by increasing membership, refocusing Chapter goals, integrating the Chapter social media sites and blog and participating in national events. Gray served as Chapter President until May 2011, ultimately increasing membership to more than 25 members.
Gray served on the 2011-2012 National Committee as vice president of public relations, where she increased PRSSA social media efforts, edited and published Chapter News, implemented the Pacesetter Chapter recognition and served as a communication channel for PRSSA National.
Gray has worked on campus in the WCU public relations eMarketing department managing the university’s social media; for the campus newspaper, The Western Carolinian, as a news writer and social media coordinator; for the WCU Student Government Association as the director of public relations and marketing; for Last Minute productions as the leadership and marketing coordinator; and for the North Carolina Association of Student Governments as the director of research and development. She also works with the WCU student-run firm, Catamount Communications.
Gray has completed several internships, including working for Social Fresh, A&O Public Relations, Bad Rhino Inc., Trevelino Keller Communications Group and the WCU PR eMarketing department. She looks forward to graduating in December 2012 and aims to continue working in public relations, marketing and social media.
