Brian Price, 2013-2014 National President, is a second-year graduate student at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich. He received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Northern Michigan and is now pursuing his master’s in public administration.
Price joined NMU PRSSA during his junior year and became active immediately, holding positions as secretary and Chapter president. He initiated a relationship between NMU and their sponsoring PRSA Chapter and increased the archiving of Chapter history. Price served on the 2012-13 National Committee as the vice president of Chapter development; he focused on training leaders, sharing ideas across campuses, fundraising and connecting with Chapters. Price was the 2012-13 recipient of the Elaine Averick Outstanding National Committee Member award.
Outside of PRSSA, Price has served his university by participating in the interviewing process of two public relations professors, coordinating retirement festivities for three retiring professors (including NMU PRSSA’s long-time Faculty Adviser) and providing feedback for curriculum updates. He was named Outstanding Graduating Senior in communication studies for 2011-12.
Price has completed several internships. On campus, he has interned with the Sports Information Department and the Communications and Marketing Office. Also during his senior year, Price volunteered as a public relations assistant for the Upper Peninsula Children’s Bereavement Network. During the summer of 2012, he interned at Taylor Global, Inc. in Charlotte, N.C. and will intern in Porter Novelli’s Chicago office in the summer of 2013. While in graduate school, Price serves as a graduate assistant for the NMU director of communications.
In his free time, Price enjoys following collegiate and professional sports, spending time with friends, traveling and listening to Jimmy Buffett music.
