Jessica Noonan

Jessica Noonan, 2011–2012 vice president of professional development, attends American University in Washington, D.C. She is studying toward a dual degree with a BA in public communication and a BSBA in marketing. She plans to graduate in May of 2012.

Noonan joined PRSSA immediately during her freshman year. She held her first executive board position sophomore year as the Chapter’s vice president of events. In her junior year, Noonan served as vice president of publicity and recruitment. Within her role, she attracted new members by promoting the Chapter’s events and news. As an executive board member, she assisted in developing the Chapter’s student-run firm, Eagle Communications.

On a national level, Noonan took on the role of co-director of the PRSSA 2010 National Conference, “The Capital Connection: People Press and Politics” in Washington, D.C. Working with a committee from American University, Maryland University and Howard University, Noonan spent over a year working on all aspects of the event, including speakers, sponsors and promotion. As a way to promote the Conference, she attended the 2009 National Conference and the 2010 National Assembly. For her involvement, Noonan received a PRSSA Outstanding Member Award.

Outside of PRSSA, Noonan is an active member in her professional business fraternity, where she has served as an executive board member and mentor to new members, recently receiving the spring 2011 Most Valuable Brother Award. In her professional career, Noonan has held internships at United Way, her business school’s career development center and in the corporate and financial practice at Burson-Marsteller.

Alternating between living in D.C., New Jersey and New York, Noonan loves to travel in her free time. She recently ventured to Italy for a summer vacation. She also enjoys being active and using social media, specifically her Twitter @jess_noons.
