Lauren K. Gray, vice president of public relations 2011–2012, is a senior communication student with a concentration in public relations with minors in marketing and leadership at Western Carolina University.
Gray joined the WCU Chapter of PRSSA in August of 2009, where she was the Chapter Historian. After attending the 2009 National Conference in San Diego, Gray knew she wanted to improve the WCU Chapter. In December of 2009, she became President of her Chapter and remained President until May 2011.
From her sophomore year on, Gray has completed several internships and jobs. She was the Multimedia Coordinator for Last Minute Productions in spring of 2009 and the Leadership and Marketing Coordinator for Last Minute Productions from fall 2009–spring 2010. Lauren started working at her first internship with the WCU PR E-marketing Department in August of 2009 and has continued to work in this internship position. Lauren has completed several other internships as well, including interning with Social Fresh, A&O PR and a local ice cream shop, Jack The Dipper.
Currently, Gray works for the WCU Student Government Association as the director of PR and marketing, for the WCU campus newspaper, The Western Carolinian, as the news editor and social media coordinator and for Social Fresh as an executive assistant.
Gray is very passionate about public relations and marketing and hopes to secure a job with a PR firm or agency in Boston, Atlanta or Washington D.C upon graduation. She also hopes to continue to work with social media.
Other than working, Gray spends her time hanging out with her friends and brother, reading, traveling, shopping, hanging out by the pool and enjoying the rest of her time in college. She publishes at least two blog posts a week at laurenkgray.com and participates in Twitter conversation via @laurenkgray.
