When is the Assembly?

Thursday, March 22 - Sunday, March 25, 2007

When should we arrive at the hotel?

All Assembly attendees should plan on arriving in Nashville, Thursday, March 22, in time to attend the opening reception from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. However, if you are participating in the Day-of-Competition, you will need to arrive by 3:30 p.m. to start promptly at 4 p.m.

Who is eligible to attend the Assembly meeting?

Your Chapter's official Assembly delegate;
candidates running for a national office position;
members interested in attending the Assembly and the leadership training sessions;
PRSSA Affiliates.

Is there a registration fee for delegates?

No.

Is there a registration fee for members attending the Assembly who are not delegates?

Yes. There is a $60 registration fee for all non-delegates.

Who may vote at the Assembly meeting?

Only the Assembly delegates can vote. *Remember, only one per Chapter.

What kind of financial assistance is available for our delegate?

To encourage and help every PRSSA Chapter to have a delegate at the Assembly, PRSSA will pay for three nights lodging, in a quad room, at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel.

To be eligible, the delegate must complete the official Delegate Registration Form and return it either by mail, fax or on-line (as indicated on the form), by February 9.

Remember: Delegates MUST stay at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel. Delegates who do not stay at the Hotel will NOT receive any financial assistance from PRSSA.

Will PRSSA pay for any hotel charges other than room and tax?

No. PRSSA will pay for room and tax only, provided the delegate is in a quad room. Incidental charges will be the responsibility of each attendee.

Is financial assistance available only to delegates?

Yes.

Does PRSSA provide any meals?

Yes. There will be an opening reception Thursday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. and a continental breakfast will be provided on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

How do I make my hotel reservation?

Simply complete the delegate or non-delegate registration form, return it as directed and PRSSA will make your hotel reservation. Note that all reservations are made for quad occupancy, unless noted. Make sure you write any specific needs on your forms, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Will PRSSA notify me once my hotel reservation has been made?

Yes. We will send you a confirmation letter regarding your room reservation and give you the name of your roommates.

How do I get to and from the airport?

The Hotel is approximately 15-20 minutes from the Nashville Airport, which is a $22 cab ride (flat rate.) At the Airport, you can also take the Grey Line which is $18 round trip or $12 one-way. The Grey Line runs every 15 minutes.

You suggest that our delegate and National Committee candidate be the same person. What if we have more than one candidate?

If you have more than one candidate running for national office, only the candidate who is also the official Assembly delegate is eligible to receive financial hotel cost assistance from PRSSA.

Should all candidates running for national office be prepared to attend a special meeting Sunday afternoon if they are elected?

Yes. After the Assembly is officially over, there will be a meeting of the 2007-08 National Committee members and the newly elected officers.

Is there a dress code for this meeting?

Yes. Thursday and Friday dress is business casual, Saturday and Sunday is business attire.

What are our delegate's responsibilities?

  1. Delegates must attend all required sessions of the National Assembly meeting roll call will be taken or forfeit his or her travel allowance from PRSSA. (National Bylaws, Article V, Section 7.)

  2. If your Chapter or delegate wishes to propose an amendment to the Bylaws, the written text of the proposed change must reach the National President, Kevin Saghy by Friday, February 9 – [kevinsaghy@gmail.com]. (National Bylaws, Article XIV, Section l.)

  3. If your Chapter or delegate wishes to place an item on the National Assembly agenda, you must notify National President Kevin Saghy by Friday, February 9 at kevinsaghy@gmail.com or 440-552-2574 (National Bylaws, Article V, Section 9.)

  4. Chapter delegates must represent Chapter wishes and each delegate has one vote in Assembly matters, including election of officers and bylaw changes.

When do the 2007 08 National Committee officers begin their term?

June 1, 2007. However, there is a very important Leadership Retreat for the newly elected officers scheduled from June 6 – 10, 2007 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Elected officers will be expected to attend.
