"The Internet is a powerful tool and is helping us advance the profession and the future professional."

How true! The internet has really revolutionized the way we all do public relations. I remember back when the PRSSA website had barely just started!

Congrats guys (and girls) & keep up the great work.

Jeana - thanks! That's a really great idea. It would be great to share some things that we think are important. That will help share and aggregate content. Great suggestion! In the meantime, feel free to connect with me on delicious too (username is nicklucido).

Nick,

I can't wait to see what happens with the blog this year --- you already have some amazing ideas! I saw your response to Evan's post about widgets ....any chance of creating a PRSSA delicious account and linking it to the blog? Or does one already exist?

I think it'd be a great resource for enhancing blog posts and sharing information.

I also love the idea of linking to other PRSSA Chapter's blogs. Otterbein just started one this year and we're always looking for ways to link to other schools.

Keep up the good work and let me know if you're looking for guest bloggers!

Kion - Thanks so much for the kind words. I can't stress how much all of this is a team effort. It's going to take time and patience, but I believe we can truly advance the Society by taking these steps. Thanks for stopping by!

Brandi and Jared - Thanks! Looking forward to working with you guys to make improvements.

Mich - You rock! These are awesome ideas, and I'm on the same page with you. We're in the process of finalizing some things, but engaging the membership is the key here. I'll check out some of these things for sure. Thanks again!

Katy - Thanks! Make sure to check back often!

Nice work, Nick. Great structure for this year's blog- love the idea of hearing from each different PR sector - what other blog can you experience a little taste of everything! Looking forward to more posts.

When I read this post, it reminded me of a few entries from @mashable that I perused this morning (http://ow.ly/bh2A & http://ow.ly/bgZl) that referenced, among other things, @NPRnews as the 'future of media' highlighting the company's focus on social media, easy access and easy share.

This got me to thinking about your ideas... I wonder if the PRRSA blog might also benefit from a few simple additions, like easy share plug-ins like the ones found here http://speckyboy.com/2008/10/20/top-20-social-bookmaking-plugins-for-wordpress-share-your-posts/ that you can add to the footer of posts;

...or by exploring a public relations extension or partnership with Publish2 http://www.publish2.com/ as an aggregation service, with (perhaps) a local extension (if possible) -- you'd have to talk with Scott or Ryan;

...or hosting chats like those on Twitter (#pr20chat) https://twitter.com/#search?q=%23pr20chat. Perhaps @bethharte or @prsarahevans would offer some of their insights.

All of the suggestions you make are wonderful and should be included, I think. I only mean to include some utilities that allow users to share, contribute (other than commenting) and most importantly, interact overall.

What do you think? :-)

Thanks Mary Rose! I can't recommend blogging enough -- it helps you improve your writing skills, teaches you how to build relationships and connects you with great people. What do you have to lose when you blog?
