Negotiating Successfully through the Media Maze Michael D. Smart
Michael Smart is national news director at Brigham Young University and an independent communications consultant who provides media relations training across the country. He is sought for his expertise as a regular speaker at the public relations profession's premier conferences. Michael has placed positive stories that changed key audiences' behavior on the front pages of the Washington Post, USA Today and Los Angeles Times, as well as in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, and NBC's Today show. He also enjoys serving as a part-time instructor in BYU's public relations program, where student evaluations say he is the first professor to have integrated P. Diddy lyrics and William Hung video clips into a successful lecture. When he is not working or chasing his four kids, Michael obsesses about BYU football and adds to his list of America's best barbecue joints.
