Kevin James Kern
Elvis is the star attraction at Graceland in Memphis, and part of the team keeping the King of Rock N’ Roll and his famous home in the spotlight is Kevin Kern, Worldwide Media Relations Manager for Elvis Presley Enterprises. The former television news reporter joined the staff of EPE in October of 2004 as a company spokesperson. On a daily basis, Kern deals with print and television reporters from around the world who are working on stories about Elvis Presley or his famous Memphis mansion. Kern also works with various TV production companies and networks interested in taping television shows at Graceland and has facilitated on location shoots for American Idol, Oprah, The Food Network, The MTV Networks, CNN, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s The Today Show. Prior to Graceland, Kevin worked as a reporter for two years at WREG-TV, the CBS affiliate serving Memphis and the Mid-South. Kern, a native Memphian and son of a public school principal, embraced his role as an education and morning reporter for WREG-TV. During his two years at News Channel 3 he started the School Zone Slowdown community service franchise. Kern’s on air personality helped develop the School Zone Slowdown into a highly recognizable franchise while promoting safety on the streets of Memphis. Prior to his stint in Memphis television, Kern also worked as a reporter in Shreveport, LA at KTAL-TV and in Hopkinsville, KY at WKAG-TV. Kern majored in Electronic Media Journalism at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro and is a graduate of St. Benedict at Auburndale in Cordova where he serves on the Board of Directors for the SBA Alumni Association. In his spare time, Kern enjoys spending time with his family living in and around the Memphis area. Anybody that knows Kevin well is aware of his passion for the hometown basketball team, The University of Memphis Tigers. During home games at the FedExForum you’ll find Kevin in the stands wearing blue and cheering for the Tigers. Kern is also a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in East Memphis and an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis in addition to the Memphis City Schools Adopt-ASchool program.
