About the Conference

You are invited to interact with public relations professionals and students from all over the country at the PRSSA 2010 National Conference in Washington, D.C., hosted by American University, Howard University and the University of Maryland.

The Conference is the biggest annual meeting of public relations students in the United States, gathering more than 1,000 students for a weekend of networking, professional development, career preparation and leadership training.

At Conference, you will learn from professionals working in fashion, politics, crisis communication, entertainment and many other fields, helping you determine what aspect of public relations excites you. You’ll hear about some of the most exciting communications strategies, tactics and tools currently shaping the field from the professionals who are using them daily.

A highlight of the Conference will be attending two general sessions hosted by the Public Relations Society of America, PRSSA’s parent organization. Past speakers include Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post; Al Roker, formerly on the NBC Today Show; and Donald Trump. The PRSA International Conference is held concurrently with the PRSSA Conference, allowing students to meet and mingle with the 2,000 professionals who attend this event.

Come with your resumes and business cards in hand, ready to receive feedback at our resume and career preparation sessions or to apply your networking skills at our Career Exhibition and speed networking session. Build relationships that will last a lifetime as you meet peers who share your interest in public relations at our opening night social and celebrate their accomplishments at the awards ceremony and dinner.

Networking, learning and exploring the city where people, press and politics converge will broaden your perspective of public relations. You will leave with more knowledge, better leadership skills and an experience that can only be gained by attending the various workshops and speaker sessions planned just for students like you.
