Rana Kay
Public Relations Manager
Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

Rana Kay is the public relations manager at the Hard Rock Hotel located in downtown San Diego.  She is responsible for managing public relations and communications strategy and execution for the 420-room hotel and its outlets including two world-class bars Float and 207, Maryjane’s restaurant and Rock Spa.  

Under her leadership, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego has been featured in top-tier media outlets including People Magazine, MSNBC, FoxNews.com, Travel + Leisure, OK!, USA Today and the Los Angeles Times,  as well as on a host of syndicated television series including CW’s Hitched or Ditched, E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians and A&E’s Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels.  Through Rana’s strategic positioning and aggressive media relations tactics, the property has quickly garnered national acclaim as San Diego’s hottest spot for travel and entertainment.

Prior to Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, Rana spent seven years working on the agency-side of public relations, most recently serving as account supervisor at San Diego-based Chemistry.  At Chemistry, she managed a diverse portfolio of local and national accounts including Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., Ivy Hotel and Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino.  

Rana earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a public relations emphasis from San Diego State University.  She is a member of Toastmasters International and has been active in the Public Relations Society of America’s San Diego Chapter as well as the San Diego Press Club.


Tim Wheatcroft
General Manager, San Diego Office

As the General Manager, Tim leads all aspects of Allison & Partners’ San Diego office, from client servicing and strategic development through to staff and business development initiatives. Tim oversees daily activity and strategy on all campaigns based out of San Diego, ranging from hospitality to environmental, technology and corporate.

Tim has over 11 years’ business and consumer PR experience in the US, Europe and Asia. He started his career as an account executive at global technology media relations firm LEWIS PR in London before moving to San Diego in 2001. While at LEWIS PR, he led commercial activities in the San Diego office as well as overseeing new client strategic development for the entire US operation, spanning eight offices and developing the agency’s internal strategy and processes. He joined Allison & Partners in early 2008.

As a member of the agency’s technology leadership team, Tim oversees social media strategy and execution for a number of the agency’s clients. He has spoken on social media at a wide range of events, from the PRSA to public sector to the entertainment industry.

Tim has a degree in French Language and Literature from the University of Hull in England. He is a semi-active blogger and outside the office can often be found on the soccer field, or on the beach with his golden retriever, Georgia.
