Kim Bonnell
Conference Coordinator

Joining Wayne State University from Kalamazoo, Mich., Kim Bonnell has become an important fixture in the James S. Measell Chapter of PRSSA, serving as President during the 2007-2008 academic year.

In 2005, Kim graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with an associate degree in basic arts. This background in art has brought a new angle to Kim's work.

With her passion for the arts, Kim spends much of her time working on film sets. In 2006, she started production with Thought Collide on a science fiction series shot entirely in Detroit. In order to draw attention for this production statewide, Kim successfully planned and executed a screening and afterglow party in Kalamazoo. Working alone, she gained sponsorships, wrote press releases and oversaw all of the event logistics.

Currently, Kim is sharing dual roles as Director of Public Relations and Production Designer for Knemonic Productions, an independent film company in Detroit. She takes her roles very seriously, constantly updating the website blog, writing releases and planning events. She enjoys working with the special effects and other mediums to create the proper ambience for each film.

Kim brings this enthusiasm for the arts and passion for communication to her role as PRSSA 2008 National Conference Co-Coordinator. She is honored to be working with Eastern Michigan University in the development of this benchmark event.

Bre McKamie
Conference Coordinator

Born and raised in the birth city of Motown Records, Bre McKamie is a proud native of Detroit, Mich. McKamie, a public relations major with a minor in marketing at Eastern Michigan University (EMU), is excited to work with Wayne State University to co-coordinate the 2008 National Conference.

Since her sophomore year, Bre has held various leadership roles for the Eleanor Wright PRSSA Chapter at EMU. Her first position as special events/internship coordinator gave her the opportunity to plan Chapter events and socials while maintaining/updating the internship spreadsheet. She continued to climb the executive board ladder when elected as 2006 vice president. In this position, she was heavily involved in planning the EMU-PRSSA 10th annual Student Development Conference and the Chapter’s annual induction ceremony and Spring Gala. Bre is currently the EMU Chapter President.

Though her presidency is quite time consuming, she has maintained a 3.52 cumulative G.P.A. While fulfilling her responsibilities as an honor student, Bre also works on campus as a Team Leader for Supplemental Instruction. She oversees five to six instructors who hold study sessions for EMU students. Furthermore, she conducts weekly meetings with her “team,” discussing ways to market their sessions to students, how to increase attendance, reflect on successes and mistakes, different delivery techniques based on learning styles and much more.

In 2004, Bre completed her first internship at Greater Media, the parent company for radio stations the WRIF, WMAC and WCSX in Ferndale, Mich., where she assisted with on-site and off-site marketing events such as the Taste Festival and the Classic Rock Cruise. Bre was also the marketing intern for the American Red Cross office in Ypsilanti, Mich.

McKamie is a huge fan of Motown classics, such as Marvin Gaye and the Temptations. Her passion for different music genres such as jazz, hip hop, R&B, and gospel has greatly influenced her interest in working in the entertainment field.
