National Conference

The annual PRSSA National Conference is the Society's largest, most popular event each year. For four days, students from around the country convene for learning, professional development, training, networking and fun. Some of the standard events at National Conference are the following:

  1. Opening Reception
  2. Career development sessions
  3. PRSA General Sessions
  4. Chapter development sessions
  5. Student firm sessions
  6. Resume critiquing/Interviewing tips
  7. Networking with professionals
  8. Career Expo
  9. Agency Tours
  10. Awards dinner
  11. Social events

No PRSSA career is complete without attending a National Conference.

National Assembly

The National Assembly is a unique opportunity for Delegates to help shape the future of the Society. We hope you will consider sending a Delegate to represent your chapter at the 2001 Assembly.

There are two ways your members may participate:

  1. Elect an official Delegate to represent your chapter. Your Delegate will elect national officers, vote on proposed bylaw changes and attend Leadership Training Sessions. PRSSA provides financial assistance for travel to the Assembly for your Delegate.

  2. Besides your Delegate, you may send as many members as you wish as non-voting participants in the Assembly. These individuals pay a $50 registration fee, and do not receive financial assistance for travel. They may attend all Assembly meetings, socials and Leadership Training Sessions, but they do not vote.
The special Leadership Training Program offers chapter leaders and Delegates a series of workshops that aim to increase awareness of PRSSA's national programs. It also helps develop effective leaders at the local level and forge a stronger relationship between the National Committee and local leaders. We suggest that you send your incoming chapter president to this event to build his or her leadership skills and knowledge of PRSSA. You can send him/her as either your official Delegate or as a non-voting participant in the Assembly.

We hope your chapter will take advantage of this excellent opportunity by sending several members.

Regional Activities

Each spring regional activities take place across the country. Planned, staffed and hosted by local chapters, these activities contain a great variety of events that will allow you to improve your networks, skills and abilities. Whether you are planning or attending a regional activity, you can be sure you are tapping a valuable resource.

PRSSA's regional activities program is designed to be flexible. Activities can last one day or last over a weekend. A regional activity's programs are only limited by creativity. You can participate in award or case study competitions, professional and chapter development workshops, regional career fairs, chapter leadership round tables and PRSA/PRSSA socials. Because regional activities will bring together local chapters, you will also enjoy getting to know PRSSA members throughout your area.

You don't need to limit your participation to attendance - your chapter can host an official PRSSA Regional Activity. Planning an activity will provide the members of your chapter real- life experience in event planning - one of PR's growing fields. If you're not sure if hosting an activity is right for your chapter, contact the Vice President of Regional Activities.

Additional information will be available on this web site, as well as in the Regional Activities Handbook (PDF).

All chapters are invited to bid to host an activity. Proposals for the 2002-2003 school year are due by October 11, 2002 and can be downloaded here:
