National FUNdraising Bowl is Underway
The National FUNdraising Bowl, a program in its second year for the Public Relations Student Society of America, is underway in 2006 after a successful initial campaign.
The FUNdraising Campaign was created by 2004-2005 Vice President of Chapter Development Bridgette Wright to encourage Chapters across the nation to share successful fundraising ideas. Last year, over a dozen different FUNdraisers from Chapters across the nation raised a grand total of roughly $14,000. All of these FUNdraisers can be found in the "FUNdraising Playbook" at www.prssa.org/fundraising.
Chapters may submit their best fundraising practices online by filling out the application form in the FUNdraising manual, which may be downloaded at www.prssa.org/fundraising. Completed applications should be e-mailed to current Vice President of Chapter Development Kevin Saghy at kevinsaghy@gmail.com.
During the months of January through April, Chapters compete for the title of National Fundraising Bowl Champion of the Month. Winners are drawn randomly from all each month's submissions.
In May, the four monthly winners will be entered into a final drawing to determine the National Fundraising Bowl Champion of the Year. The University of Northern Iowa claimed the inaugural FUNdraising Bowl Championship of 2005.
"Fundraising is always an area of concern in discussions at national events," Saghy said. "This campaign encourages the sharing of great ideas and is simple for Chapters to participate in."
