Ball State University - "Colts Concessions"

February 2006 National FUNdraising Bowl Winners

Amount Raised: $3,600

Implementation Dates: November 13th, November 28th, December 4th, December 18th, January 1st and January 15th

Suggested Planning Time: 18 hours

Number of Staff Needed: 12 volunteers per session

Description of Event:
Our main fundraiser for the Chapter this fall was working the Indianapolis Colts games in a concession stand. We worked six home games in the V.I.P. section. We sold refreshments and beverages averaging $3,600 in sales while coming away with around $600 per event.

Promotion for Event:
We promoted the event by making announcements at our meetings and also by sending out e-mails to inform members about the games.

How did you encourage members to participate?
The original purpose of this event was to raise money for those students who traveled to the National Conference in Miami; proceeds of the fundraising activity went to reimburse those who attended the conference, the member volunteers and the Chapter.

Additional Information:
In order to run the event successfully, it took much preparation and organization by our treasurer, Brandon Schlarb. Each event required 12 volunteers to be in Indianapolis three hours before the game began and about two hours after the game ended. Muncie is approximately one hour north of Indianapolis; so car-pooling was also required in planning the event.
