Lisa Travnik
- 2006-2007 Vice President of Advocacy
Inspired by show tunes, traveling, sunshine and Starbuck’s ice cream, Lisa L. Travnik is excited to serve as the 2006-2007 vice president of advocacy. A free-lance advocate for many issues she holds close to her heart, Lisa hopes to spark an interest in members for those facets of the profession that may often be overlooked.
A senior at Grand Valley State University, Lisa is currently studying Advertising and Public Relations. She is also pursuing a minor in Business and has already completed a minor in Spanish. She is a member of the Honor’s College and (of course) an involved member of PRSSA. In her (nonexistent) free time, Lisa enjoys shopping, exercising, laying by the beach and reading celebrity gossip magazines.
During her sophomore year, Lisa served as Treasurer for her Chapter. She has also written several pieces for FORUM and in her junior year worked on the National Sub-Committee for Internships and Job Services.
In terms of professional experience, Lisa has completed three internships in a variety of areas. She has worked in the medical/non-profit area, community news and most recently in consumer marketing with Porter-Novelli in Los Angeles. She is currently working at Quixtar in the public relations department. After graduation, she hopes to move to a big city and try her hand in corporate agency work. A lover of the arts, Lisa's dream is to one day work in public relations for a Broadway playhouse or a large art museum.
As Vice President of Advocacy, Lisa hopes to inspire members to take an active role in enhancing society through communication. She thinks it’s important that members across the country feel included in this Society and realize their potential within it. By participating in this exciting change in PRSSA history, Lisa hopes to leave her mark and pave the way for those who follow.
