Melissa Csuhran

Melissa Csuhran, PRSSA 2006-2007 vice president of internships/job services is a junior at Ohio Northern University. She has a double major in public relations and marketing.

During the summer, Melissa was the external Public Affairs Intern in Community Banking for KeyCorp in Cleveland, Ohio. She revamped Key’s 23 district profiles physically and content-wise, created kits to market public affair’s repository to internal clients and assisted with preparing Key’s corporate stance on the Avian Bird Flu pandemic.

At the beginning of her freshman year, Melissa became an active member of PRSSA and Image & Communication Consultants (ICC), Ohio Northern University’s student-run public relations firm. She traveled to New York City for National Conference and presented on the subject of professional relations for a Chapter Development Session. Melissa received the “2004-05 Outstanding New Chapter Member” award.

Her involvement with PRSSA cultivated during her sophomore year while she served on PRSSA’s executive board as the public relations director and newsletter editor. Melissa completely revamped the Chapter newsletter and maintained ONU’s PRSSA chapter’s high level of prestige. She helped prepare ONU’s Chapter Development Session for National Conference in Miami, FL. She was chosen to be Ohio Northern University’s delegate at PRSSA’s National Assembly in San Francisco.

Additionally at Ohio Northern University, Melissa has worked in Residence Life, served as a Resident Assistant (RA), Communications Co-Chair for Student Senate and Historian for her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta.

She is consistently on Dean’s List and a member of Lambda Pi Eta, National Communication Association Honorary. Melissa received the 2006 DeBow Freed Award for Outstanding Leadership, given to one male and one female in each class.

Melissa enjoys traveling, dancing, singing, ranch dressing, New York City, the color pink, taking pictures, optimism, sunny days, working out, long conversations, reading books about business, lifelong friends, being social, nighttime, golfing, going out to dinner at unique restaurants, being energetic and her amazing family.

On April 4, 1968, the PRSA Board of Directors created the first PRSSA chapters at nine schools which met the charter requirements.


Those charter chapters were:

  • University of Florida
  • University of Houston
  • University of Maryland
  • Ohio State University
  • San Jose State College
  • University of Southern California
  • University of Texas at Austin
  • Utica College
  • West Virginia University

The total chapter membership was 196.
