Scott T. Iwata, Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) 2005-2006 National President is a Public Relations major and is a Recreation Tourism minor from Central Washington University.
Iwata has worked professionally on a national, regional, and local level creating and implementing public relations campaigns. He has partnered with the American Medical Association (AMA), Chamaty Diamond & Gem of Seattle, Pituitary Network Association (PNA), the Girl Scouts Mid-Columbia Council (GSMCC) and Central Washington University’s Athletic Department. Currently Iwata works at 180solutions an online contextual marketing company.
While at CWU, Iwata became involved with PRSSA. He first started attending meetings two years ago serving as Chapter Senator and last year as Chapter President. Iwata also serves as a Visitation Coordinator at CWU arranging and organizing campus tours and the overnight visitation for prospective students called Sampler. Iwata served as CWU’s mascot, Wellington the Wildcat. Iwata launched a year long endeavor that saw him as the sole fundraiser of $5000 dollars for a new mascot costume for CWU. This new costume has helped bring a much needed renewed sense of pride to campus. Iwata wrote the pitch letter, pitched the idea to department heads, Provosts and the University President. Because of his dedication to CWU he was awarded the 2003 Wellington Award at CWU for leadership among student athlete’s for his work in creating the new mascot.
Iwata has spent near 11 years working for the Seattle Mariners Baseball Club starting when he was 13 years old. He became the youngest front office employee at the age of 18. Iwata held many positions during his time with the Mariners but the most notable job he did for them was the Mariner Moose. Holding that position for 5 years. After leaving the Mariners for his higher education, his work in PRSSA continued during this span as President and in New Orleans was awarded the National President’s Citation, in Redondo Beach was elected Vice President of Member Services and in Dallas this past March he was elected National President.
In his spare time Iwata loves mountain biking, camping, hiking, salt water crabbing and rafting rivers. Currently Iwata is in training for a 100 mile bike ride later in the summer and would like to ride the Seattle to Portland Bike ride in the next two years.
