Boston University PRSSA Opens Registration for Regional Conference

February 14, 2013

BOSTON – The Boston University Chapter of PRSSA today announced that registration for its annual Regional Conference is now open. This year’s conference, PR Advanced: Embrace the Possibilities, will take place on Saturday, February 23 at the Boston University Photonics Center. This is the sixth year in a row the Chapter has hosted a PRSSA Regional Conference.
PR Advanced: Embrace the Possibilities will focus on understanding there is no single way to a successful public relations career. Many students face a dilemma of unprecedented freedom to advance but an overwhelming range of choices.
“This year’s Regional Conference will present attendees with the knowledge and motivation to find the balance between fitting in and standing out,” said Chapter president Mike DeFilippis. “This conference will demonstrate how to adhere to the rich tradition of public relations while breaking away from convention. Only now can we have the structure of corporate public relations and the same thrill of start-up companies.”
Rob Flaherty, senior partner, president and chief executive officer of Ketchum, will headline this year’s conference. Flaherty leads Ketchum's nine-member Worldwide Executive Committee to guide the strategy, client service and performance of the agency. During his tenure, Flaherty has counseled some of the world’s largest companies and brands, including IBM, FedEx, Philips and Pfizer.
“We’re so excited to have Rob Flaherty as our keynote this year,” said Conference Coordinator Alex Hyken. “While he epitomizes the means of traditional public relations, he also understands that public relations needs to look toward the future and that’s exactly what students need to hear.”
