State of the Society

PRSSA National President
On behalf of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), I welcome you to the Public Relations Student International Coalition (PRSIC) Web site! As the practice of public relations extends its borders, it is essential that students studying within the field are well informed of this global expansion.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Public Relations Student Society of America is the world's pre-eminent, pre-professional public relations organization. Founded in 1968 by its parent Society, PRSA, the organization has grown to nearly 10,000 members and 297 Chapters at colleges and universities in 43 states, the District of Columbia and Argentina.
This year we implemented several initiatives in order to enhance our members’ knowledge of public relations, provide professional development opportunities and develop well-prepared pre-professionals. We created, Public Relations 101 DVD, an educational tool with the purpose of promoting both the profession of public relations and PRSSA. In addition, we completed our Diversity Toolkit, launched a 40th Anniversary Online Media Kit, committed to professional ethics through the Fair & Ethical Campaigning initiative, established a social media task force and promoted the importance of transitioning to our parent Society, PRSA, upon graduation.
I encourage you to explore www.prssa.org to learn more about our initiatives. Our Society’s leadership, the National Committee, is excited to interact with you and answer your questions along the way. We are here to serve you!
It truly is a small world after all, and I look forward to educating, sharing knowledge and creating awareness about international public relations with you.
Warmest regards,
Melissa M. Csuhran
