2002-03 PRSSA Annual Report
Notes from the National Webmaster & FORUM Editor-in-Chief
Roman Gaponenko, National Webmaster
Maintenance is the fuel that keeps a Web site alive and is the
most important responsibility of the national webmaster. July
26 marked the launch of the new PRSSA Web site. It was further
developed and enriched with new subsections and content additions.
Weekly updates were done to keep conference speakers and scheduled
events in accordance with the latest updates. News, forms, articles,
press releases and new pages were made available on the National
Web site.
Continuous improvements to the Web site were made, such as the
National Committee's Web site, PRSSA online community, new and
updated forms, headlines and updates of national activities and
local Chapter news. Along with the Web site maintenance, supervision
of the PRSSA Firm Directors, PRSSA Talk and PRSSA Webmasters listservs
and the message board was conducted on a regular basis.
The PRSSA 2002 National Conference daily reports, highlighting
key conference events, were introduced this year on the Web site.
Pictures and testimonials from participants were also included.
Tracy Leong, FORUM Editor-in-Chief
"I was taught that the way of progress is neither swift
nor easy" Marie Curie. This year was a very challenging year
for the FORUM team. FORUM was changed from a newsletter to a newspaper
that mirrors USA Today. Four extra pages and a pullout section
were also introduced this year.
The fall issue featured highlights and tips for the PRSSA 2002
National Conference. The winter issue featured the PRSSA 2003
Regional Activities. This year, the editorial team introduced
International Spotlight, highlighting the public relations profession
and practices in different countries. In addition, the team has
begun the process for finding advertisers for next year's FORUM.
A trial classifieds' run, with the support of Brandi Littlejohn,
vice president of internship and job services, was established
in the Winter issue.
Through surveys conducted by Sally Hallingstad (2001-2002), the
spring issue was designated FORUM Annual Report. Our goal was
to recap all the exciting things that happened in the year and
to document the challenges and success each National Committee
experienced. Recognition is due to the editorial team: Nathan
Kells, Josh Holly, Jennifer Schafer, Abby Thoemke and Jeff Opp
for uniting the vision and inspiring the passion.
