PRSSA C.H.A.R.T Guide
The PRSSA C.H.A.R.T. Guide is designed to help each Chapter create and maintain a record of its history and accomplishments. Modeled after the PRSSA Situation Analysis, a Chapter’s C.H.A.R.T. will remain a work-in-progress and will be updated annually by individuals delegated by or serving on a Chapter’s executive board. A Chapter’s C.H.A.R.T should also serve as a guide to prospective Chapter leaders who are interested in running for local office, as well as a tool for ensuring smooth and effective leadership transitions from year to year.
What is a C.H.A.R.T.?

Includes a record of and contact information for past presidents, award and scholarship recipients, members who served nationally, and past speakers.

May 1, 2006 – Last Revised
Introduction
Chapters may want to include an introductory section that describes how its C.H.A.R.T. can be employed by current and future leaders. This is a good place to talk about the C.H.A.R.T.’s function as a tool for prospective Chapter leaders who are interested in running for local office and as a tool for enabling smooth and efficient leadership transitions.
Chapter History
This section should include a Chapter’s founding date, information about its sponsoring PRSA Chapter, any partnerships with campus or local organizations, annual fundraisers and basic facts. The history of a Chapter’s student-run firm should also be included, if applicable.
Accomplishments
The accomplishments section should catalog a Chapter’s most noteworthy local and national accomplishments. This is where a Chapter would list if it had received a Dr. F.H. Teahan National Chapter Award or sponsored a winning team in the Bateman Competition.
Records
A Chapter’s records include past fundraising information, workshop and recruitment ideas, a description of its presence at national events, and survey results. This section should also include excel files that list any contact information for past presidents, award and scholarship recipients, members who served on a National Committee or subcommittee, and speakers. The records section of the C.H.A.R.T. can also function as an appendix.
Transition
The transition section should outline a Chapter’s management and leadership roles and include a timeline of responsibilities for each position. Leadership roles will differ from Chapter to Chapter, but the following are common examples:
- President
- National Liaison
- Vice President of Chapter Development
- Vice President of Member Services
- Vice President of Public Relations
- Secretary
- Webmaster
- Faculty Advisor
- Professional Advisor
- PRSA Liaison
Finally, the executive board may provide insight or suggestions that the incoming board can use to focus its goals for the year. A list of any programs or ideas the board did not have the opportunity to implement should also be included.
