Welcome to PRSSA!
Dear Current and Prospective PRSSA Member,
Thank you for visiting the Public Relations Student Society of America’s Web site, the online home to the largest pre-professional organization in the country. We currently have more than 10,000 members at 299 Chapters in the United States and our first International Chapter in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our Society strives to advance the profession through peer and professional networking, local and national programming, advocacy and diversity.
There are a variety of benefits to being a member of PRSSA. Highlights include:
- Access to our national internship/entry-level position employment database Job Center
- The opportunity to apply for more than $20,000 in scholarships and awards
- The chance to write for national publications like FORUM, our national newspaper
- Contribute to our commitment to international public relations by completing a country profile for our Public Relations Student International Coalition (PRSIC) Web site
- Leadership opportunities offered to members on both local and national levels
One of the biggest advantages to PRSSA is the network you can create. By attending events like our National Conference, Regional Activities, National Assembly, and Leadership Rally, members can meet peers and professionals from across the country and across the globe.
If you are interested in leadership, PRSSA holds elections each spring at our National Assembly where members can run for positions on the National Committee. Additionally, there are scholarship competitions that students can participate in such as our annual Bateman Competition.
We want to be sure our members follow our vision for the Society. As we move forward through Growth, Education, Advancement, Relationships and Students (G.E.A.R.S.), we are helping our members achieve this goal. By creating an environment that nurtures this vision, our Society continues to expand and grow every year.
Our members need to be aware current trends in the industry as well as the challenges before they enter into the professional world. Students need to know about diversity of thought, so they are open to people with a wide range of ideas and backgrounds. By promoting advocacy and diversity to students, our members will leave college and PRSSA with a solid foundation of what lies ahead and will be prepared to handle obstacles in a diverse, global workforce.
The PRSSA Web site offers answers many of your questions about how to be involved in PRSSA and how you can establish a PRSSA Chapter at your college or university. If your school does not have a PRSSA Chapter, we have the Affiliate Program where non-members can become affiliated with PRSSA and receive similar member benefits. Additionally, we have the PRSA Associate Member program for graduating seniors to successfully transition into PRSA after graduation.
Again, thank you for visiting our site. I encourage you to browse the Web site and be sure you get all your questions answered. Please feel free to contact the National Committee with any inquiries or concerns you may have, as we are here to serve you. Have a wonderful year!
Best Wishes,
Brandi Boatner
National President
