Contiki Holidays 2002 Bateman Case Study Competition

Timeline

September 18 - Information, case study and Intent-to-Enter form mailed to PRSSA chapters.

November 5 - Deadline for receipt of Intent-to-Enter Forms to PRSSA Headquarters.

November 7 - Acknowledgement letter and information on Contiki Holidays mailed to participating chapters.

February 1-28 - Month to implement public relations campaign including special event.

March 28 – All entries are due to PRSSA Headquarters in New York.

April 6 - Judging to take place at PRSSA Headquarters. Judges will select three finalist teams.

April 8 - Three finalist teams notified.

April 10 - Non-winning teams notified.

May 1 - Three finalist teams arrive in Hawaii for the final presentations and tour.

May 3 – Final presentations by the three teams will be made to a group of judges who will declare first- second- and third-place winners. Teams will be advised of their status immediately following the presentations.

May 5 – Teams depart from Hawaii and return back to school.

November 18 – Three finalist teams are recognized at the 2002 National Conference Awards Dinner in San Francisco, California.

PRSSA chapters are chartered by the PRSA National Board of Directors and must meet the following criteria:

  • The chapter's university must offer a sequence of at least five courses in public relations.

  • The chapter must have a minimum of 10 students, at least one of whom has completed a public relations course. The rest have to exhibit an interest in taking public relations classes, either in writing or by enrolling in such a class.

  • At least eight students have to be at or below the junior level.

  • The students must elect a faculty advisor, who must be a full-time instructor of public relations and a member of the Public Relations Society of America.

  • The students must elect one or two professional advisors, both of which have to be members of PRSA. At least one of the professional advisors must have at least five years of experience in the profession or be accredited by PRSA.

  • The chapter's application must be endorsed by the president and four members of the sponsoring PRSA chapter.
