PRSSA 2008 National Assembly Approaching

Thanks to those who registered for the 2008 National Assembly in San Diego. All attendees should receive information regarding their hotel accomodations by February 22. Delegates will also receive more information about candidates, bylaw changes and other Assembly business.

National Assembly registrants should sign up to participate in the 6th Annual Day-of-Competition. This hands-on public relations competition challenges teams of four or five Assembly attendees to develop a communications plan for a real-world public relations client. Members of the winning team will be recognized at the welcome reception and will each receive a plaque and $50. If you have any questions about the Competition, please contact Allison Tomei.

BEST PRACTICES SHOWCASE: Edinboro University of Pennsylvania

Edinboro University of Pennsylvania continued its annual Distinguished Lecture Series this year with a multimedia presentation by Sarah J. Glover, an award-winning photojournalist with The Philadelphia Inquirer. Since 2003, the Distinguished Lecture Series has brought a number of acclaimed speakers to Edinboro's campus, including the U.S. Army's deputy chief of public affairs and two former U.S. Congressmen.

Platform Online Magazine is a student-run publication that seeks to create an online community where PR students, practitioners and educators discuss issues shaping the profession's future. Topic categories on the Website include career, leadership, ethics, trends and tips from the pros.

The Platform student editorial team encourages article contributions from PR students, practitioners and educators. If you'd like to write an article for Platform, contact Melissa Csuhran before March 15, 2008.

Denise Kreft, Vice President of Internships and Job Services:

Ketchum Communications is pleased to announce their New York's Summer Fellowship Program. The program, formerly known as the New York Summer Internship Program, is a paid fellowship now open to undergraduate students currently in their junior and senior years. The program begins on June 2, 2008 and ends on August 8, 2008. Students must be available for the entire 10 weeks to be considered.
