PRSSA News Highlight
Perfect your public relations techniques by participating in PRSSA’s teleseminars. For the first time in the Society’s history, these teleseminars will offer members a chance to listen to professional advice regarding some of the industry’s “hot topics.” The calls will take place on Tuesday, March 9 and Friday, March 26. Members can participate as individuals or within a group; Chapters are encouraged to register and use a speaker phone to increase attendance and cost-efficiency. Registration forms for the Writing teleseminar are due no later than Monday, March 1 and for the Networking teleseminar on Friday, March 12.

Question: What are you going to do when PRSSA comes to an end? Answer: Become a PRSA Associate Member! At a fraction of the regular PRSA membership cost, PRSSA graduates can reap all the offered benefits, especially networking among professionals. Student-Run Firms must register by March 1 to be officially recognized by the Society.

National Assembly

The PRSSA Store will open its online “doors” during the first days of National Assembly. Note cards, travel mugs and the new logo lapel pins are only a few of the items that will be featured. Internet ordering will also be available on this secure site. Keep posted to prssa.org for details!

All members attending the 2004 National Assembly are encouraged to review the Society’s official Assembly Election Guidelines, http://www.prssa.org/assembly/downloads/guidelines.pdf. This information will also be mailed to VOTING DELEGATES ONLY.

Penn State University will be hosting its debut Regional Activity entitled "Charting A Course For Success." This all-day event features an eclectic mix of public relations professionals who will help attendees "navigate" today's PR world. The annual Central Ohio PaRtners Conference will be held at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. The event titled, “Put It Together…Your Future in PR” will host several speakers from the Columbus communications industry.

Howard University is hard at work planning the Diversity Summit entitled, "Re-Inventing the Melting Pot." The tentative agenda includes a panel discussion and keynote address on diversity in PR and the media, a group lunch and a networking "round robbin" activity where student attendees will have the opportunity to meet and chat with industry leaders.

Do you want to start planning for your future? Come to the Central Washington University 2004 Regional Conference, “Crisis-Aid: Trouble in Paradise.” You can start networking and receive some real world experiences during incredible presentations from such companies as Microsoft, DDB, Shiners Hospital and Waggener Edstrom. April 16-17 - Morehead State University [abhend02@morehead-st.edu]
Horses, bluegrass, career preparation, Chapter development and various professional networking opportunities—you will be entertained and educated at the Morehead State University PRSSA Regional Event.
On Friday attendees are invited to Lexington for lunch at the Red Mile Race Track as they learn about public relations in the horse industry. After the sessions, one can choose to spend the afternoon watching the thoroughbreds race at Keenland Race Track, where Seabiscuit was filmed. There is free admission with a college ID and the opportunity to win one of several $1,000 scholarships!
One can also choose to hear a case study presentation at the office of one of our Lexington PRSA members, or to take a self-guided tour of historic Lexington, home of Henry Clay, Nancy Todd Lincoln and beautiful horse farms.
During Saturday’s festivities, members can attend career development and job hunt workshops.

PRSSA Pearce Davies Chapter at San Jose State University will be hosting a regional activity for local PRSSA Chapters and all students involved in marketing, public relations, advertising, or communications and will learn more about their field relating to sports and event planning.
Located in the South Bay Area, San Jose has access to sports teams like the San Jose Sharks, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, San Jose Sabercats, San Jose Earthquakes, Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants and more! Registration deadline is March 23rd.
