SAVE THE DATE!

The PRSSA 2008 National Assembly is scheduled for March 13-16 in sunny San Diego, CA. Be certain to mark your calendars and look for more information in early December to register and run for a National Committee office. Information is also available on www.prssa.org/assembly.

BEST PRACTICES SHOWCASE: Oral Roberts University

The PRSSA Chapter at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., developed a membership recruitment video this fall to help increase membership. A current PRSSA member created the video with the help of Rollins Communications, where she interns. The short video was shown during a recent PRSSA meeting, while current members and the faculty advisor talked to new students about the benefits of membership and the history of their Chapter. Cristi Freudenrich, the faculty advisor, said 15 students verbally committed to joining the Society. The video is now posted on YouTube. Congratulations, Oral Roberts University!

*Share your Chapter's best practices by e-mailing Allison Tomei, Vice President of Member Services. One Chapter will be recognized in each Bi-weekly e-mail for demonstrating and sharing its innovative and creative ideas with the Society.

Brenda Schulze, Vice President of Public Relations:

Has your Chapter celebrated, yet?

Anniversary party? Community service? Special Chapter fundraiser? Has your Chapter done anything to commemorate PRSSA's 40th anniversary? If so, share it! Go online to www.prssa.org/news/chapternews.aspx or e-mail Brenda Schulze, vice president of public relations, and flaunt your Chapter's unique way of recognizing this organization's milestone anniversary!

Denise Kreft, Vice President of Internships and Job Services:

The 2007-2008 PRSSA JobCenter Sub-committee welcomes its newest members, Cecilia Hughes and Kathryn Watson. They will be reaching out to employers and other students in order to promote JobCenter. Spring Internship applications are coming up, do you have an account on JobCenter? Go to www.prssa.org/jobcenter to register.

Ryan Matejka, Vice President of Chapter Development:

The National FUNdraising Bowl is getting ready for its fourth year. Last year, FUNdraisers from Chapters across the nation raised over $14,000. All of these FUNdraisers can be found in the "FUNdraising Playbook" at www.prssa.org/fundraising.

During the months of January through April, Chapters compete for the title of National Fundraising Bowl Champion of the Month. Winners are drawn randomly from each month's submissions.

Chapters may submit their best FUNdraising practices online by filling out the application form in the FUNdraising manual, which may be downloaded at www.prssa.org/fundraising. Completed applications should be e-mailed to current Vice President of Chapter Development Ryan Matejka.

In May, the four monthly winners will be entered into a final drawing to determine the National FUNdraising Bowl Champion of the Year!

Ryan McShane, FORUM Editor-in-Chief:

With the PRSSA 2007 National Assembly site up and running, I felt this was an appropriate time to address prospective journalists considering a bid for FORUM.

I strongly encourage any of those who are interested in placing a bid to contact me in the next week or two with any questions, comments or concerns you may have about the editor-in-chief position. Preparing a bid is a timely process and candidates should spend enough time researching in order to be confident in his or her presentation.

Contact Ryan via e-mail with any questions, and he will be glad to assist you.

Brandi Boatner, Vice President of Advocacy:

Is your Chapter diverse? Does your Chapter maintain diversity among its members?

The 2007 Diversity Initiative encourages Chapters to recruit and retain a diverse membership and leadership that represents the demographic composition at their college or university.

In order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Diversity Initiative, PRSSA created a Diversity Toolkit to serve as a guideline for Chapters providing valuable information on how to promote diversity within your Chapter and on your campus. Diversity simply means difference. The 2007 PRSSA Diversity Toolkit is available online at www.prssa.org.

By having a Society full of diverse leaders, we can build stronger professional and personal relationships within our industry and our communities.

Allison Tomei, Vice President of Member Services:
